Holy Family Home and Shelter, Inc., operated by the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of the Church, endeavors to serve those families whose circumstances have deprived them of adequate living and housing. The Home and Shelter does not seek to pass judgment on any person, but to serve in a Christ-like manner families in need of the Shelter’s facilities. The Home offers them a safe harbor while helping them to find solutions to alleviate their own situation in-so-far as these persons are willing and capable of living in harmony with others while respecting their mutual rights.

Realizing that people can be impoverished physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, socially and financially, Covenant Soup Kitchen provides food and access to basic services in an environment of care, love, support and safety to those individuals and families from the greater Windham community who come through our doors. We rely on the generosity of the community and its faith to help us carry out this mission.

Community Renewal Team Inc.

As the designated community action agency for both Hartford and Middlesex Counties, the Community Renewal Team (CRT) is dedicated to helping people take steps toward healthy and economically stable futures. Since 1963, our 501(c)3 nonprofit organization has partnered with local elected officials, providers, funders, businesses and the community to address challenges like hunger, homelessness, unemployment and poverty. Together, we increase access to education, affordable housing, mental health services and much more for thousands of individuals and families throughout Central Connecticut each and every year.

Their mission is to support, strengthen, and promote the work of the Community Action Agencies statewide to advance economic, racial, and social justice

Through their strong partnership with the state and federal agencies, community-based organizations, and other state, regional, and national partners, they work to address the causes and conditions of poverty in Connecticut.

Horizons CT

Horizons’ mission is to create and sustain person-centered opportunities for people with developmental disabilities where they live, learn, work and play.

Horizons provides over 1,800 opportunities each year for people with special needs by focusing on each person’s capacity and talents while responding to the changing needs of families, individuals and the community.

Their mission is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. They mobilize U.S. students to transform our communities through service and change the world by building schools in developing countries.

ConnPIRG

ConnPIRG Students is an independent statewide student organization that works on issues like environmental protection, consumer protection, and hunger and homelessness. For nearly 35 years students with their campus PIRG chapters have been making a real difference in people’s lives and winning concrete changes to build a better world.

Women’s Center of Greater Danbury

Our mission is to serve the needs of individuals, families and the community with prevention, crisis intervention and support services with regard to domestic violence, sexual assault and other major life crises.

We achieve this mission through our strongly committed team of dedicated staff, direct service and board of director volunteers, and with the help of our many partners, from individuals and governments to local nonprofits and corporations. Together, they help us to sustain the provision of high quality, professional services for all who turn to us for help, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Uconn Migrant Farm Workers Clinics

UConn and the Connecticut Area Health Education Centers (CT AHEC) Program strive to help migrant farm workers overcome these barriers by conducting medical and dental screenings on site at farm worker barracks free of charge. The UConn Migrant Farm Worker Clinics operate annually from June to October offering diagnostic and treatment options for a variety of conditions, both acute and chronic. For over a decade, the UConn Migrant Farm Worker Clinics have annually provided between 300 and 600 migrant farm workers with primary care screenings, oral health screenings, and distribution of medications for mild and self-limited conditions, as well as preventive health education.

Operating programs at carefully selected sites, responding quickly and immediately to emergencies, we are astonishingly effective. Our actions are concrete, designed to fulfill urgent needs. We are in constant contact with our network of Senegalese colleagues to make sure that we are achieving our goals, and the results are extraordinary.
