Founded in 1999, ASAP! is a social profit organization recognized as the place for quality and innovative arts education year round offering literary, performing, visual, and culinary programs for pre-k through adult. The ASAP! community includes families and children of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds from over 100 towns. They reach 9,000+ children a year from all walks of life throughout Connecticut. Their program impacts kids by exposing them to experiential learning opportunities that encourage them to think creatively, ask questions, and explore possibilities. Since its inception ASAP! has given nearly half a million dollars in financial aid to families in need. ASAP! never turns a child away.

Violence Against Women Prevention Program (VAWPP)
Our mission is to educate, advocate, and provide support services for the achievement of women’s equity at the University and within the larger community. Special attention is focused on, but not limited to, women who face additional challenges due to their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic class, sexual identity, religion, age, and physical or metal ability.
Connecticut Foodshare
Our mission is to deliver an informed and equitable response to hunger by mobilizing community partners, volunteers, and supporters.
Founded in 1982, Connecticut Foodshare is a member of the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks.
Connecticut Foodshare supports individuals and families – from one end of the state to the other – by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs in an effort to alleviate hunger.
Health Disparities Institute
The UConn Health Center and John Dempsey Hospital are to advance health care, education, and economic development in the state by supporting the development of a health disparities institute sponsored by the University of Connecticut that will enhance research and the delivery of care to minority and medically underserved populations of the state. Producing evidence-for-action and implementing strategies designed to eliminate health disparities and advance health equity among Connecticut’s minority and medically underserved populations.
Vecinos Unidos
Neighborhood organization works with low income Hispanic/Latino individuals and families in the Greater Hartford area to help them express their concerns, become more self-sufficient and improve their economic and social status. Meetings are held third W: 5:30-7pm; call for location. Accepts donations of nonperishable food, school supplies and toys for people in agency programs.
Windham Region No Freeze Hospitality Center
The Windham Region No Freeze Project, Inc. is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to the survival of homeless adults who are in the Windham Region. We provide safe temporary shelter; we strive to address unmet needs including food, clothing, hygiene, case management, emergency and transport funding; we facilitate regional community and social service agency collaboration to these ends.
Windham Area Interfaith Ministry (WAIM)
WAIM started in 1984 in the basement of a local church with the original intention of redistributing clothing to our neighbors in need. Since then, we’ve grown to an organization that, along with clothing, provides furniture, appliances, linens, career clothing and emergency financial assistance to over 8,000 people each year from Windham and twelve surrounding towns. We also manage a thriving community garden at Lauter Park in Willimantic, and provide seasonal programs to help clients make ends meet.
United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut
United Way is a dynamic, year-round movement focused on advancing the common good in our communities. We have the unique ability, vision and resources to bring together diverse stakeholders around a community vision of creating positive change to achieve long-lasting results.
Unite For Sight
Unite For Sight supports eye clinics worldwide by investing human and financial resources in their social ventures to eliminate patient barriers to eye care. Unite For Sight applies best practices in eye care, public health, volunteerism, and social entrepreneurship to achieve our goal of high-quality eye care for all. The programs are locally led and managed by ophthalmologists at Unite For Sight’s partner eye clinics. Unite For Sight’s international eye care services with partner local eye clinics are provided year-round and are comprehensive, including examinations by local eye doctors, diagnosis and care for treatable conditions, education, and preventative care. Outreach services are brought to the people in their villages, in some cases including villages seven or more hours from the clinics. These patients are provided with regular follow-up care by our outreach teams throughout the year. To date, they have provided eye care services to more than 1.3 million people worldwide, including more than 55,000 sight-restoring surgeries.
Southington Bread for Life
BFL is a unique feeding program that has helped feed a multitude of people throughout the years. Due to escalating heating and prescription drug costs, as well as a shift in the economy, they have seen the need for their programs increase. They are committed to continuing to serve those who need our services so that no one may go hungry. Programs include: Lunch Program, Food Pantry, Senior Feeding Program.
