WeCAHR, Western Connecticut Association for Human Rights, Inc., is a non-profit organization committed to helping children and adults with disabilities live as safe, independent and productive lives as possible. WeCAHR serves 10 towns in the Greater Danbury area.

WeCAHR is an advocacy organization. We advocate for the civil and human rights of people with disabilities. We work to create and promote personal success, independence and community involvement for children and adults with disabilities.

Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center

Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center, Inc. (CPAC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that offers information and support to families of children with any disability or chronic illness, age birth through 26. The Center is committed to the idea that parents can be the most effective advocates for their children, given the confidence that knowledge and understanding of special education law and its procedures can bring.

Horizons CT

Horizons’ mission is to create and sustain person-centered opportunities for people with developmental disabilities where they live, learn, work and play.

Horizons provides over 1,800 opportunities each year for people with special needs by focusing on each person’s capacity and talents while responding to the changing needs of families, individuals and the community.

Teach for America

All kids—no matter where they live, how much money their parents make, or what their skin color is – deserve access to a great education. But in our country today, a significant achievement gap exists between low-income children and their wealthier peers. It’s not easy to close this gap, but hundreds of proof points show that it’s possible. It takes committed leaders in our classrooms today who will continue to fight for students tomorrow. Teach for America’s mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by developing such leaders.

Connecticut Voices for Children

The mission of Connecticut Voices for Children is to promote the well-being of all of Connecticut’s young people and their families by advocating for strategic public investments and wise public policies. Connecticut Voices for Children advances its mission through high quality research and analysis, strategic communications, community education, and development of the next generation of advocates.

Connecticut Department of Children & Families

All children and youth served by the Department will grow up healthy, safe and learning, and will experience success in and out of school. The Department will advance the special talents of the children it serves and will make opportunities for them to give back to the community.

Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence

The Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) is the recognized leading voice for victims and those who serve them in Connecticut. CCADV is a social change organization, working at the state and national level to create and implement policy changes to strengthen Connecticut’s response to domestic violence. CCADV is the voice against domestic violence across Connecticut. They lead a statewide network focused on advocacy, outreach and education. Their work transforms political, economic and social responses to end domestic violence in Connecticut.

Center for Children’s Advocacy at UConn School of Law

Their mission: To protect and promote the legal rights of Connecticut’s low-income children and youth so they have equitable opportunities for good health, a quality education and a successful transition to adulthood.

CCA provides legal representation and advocates for system reforms to ensure at-risk children’s basic needs are met and they receive appropriate services from the juvenile justice, education, child welfare, health care and court systems.

Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance

Founded in 2002, the Connecticut Early Childhood Alliance is a statewide organization committed to improving outcomes in the areas of learning, health, safety and economic security, for children ages birth to eight. Their goal is for all children in Connecticut to enter kindergarten healthy, eager to learn, and ready for school success. Their guiding vision is that families have strategies and capacity for early care and education so that each child is supported by comprehensive and interconnected services including early learning, nutrition, and social, emotional, and physical health.
