Lawyers Without Boarders

Lawyers Without Borders works to build capacity and integrity in the world’s justice sectors. They engage with lawyers and judges dedicated to pro bono service and integrate them into initiatives that directly or indirectly serve the underserved, protect the disadvantaged, and promote human rights.

The Education Project

The Education Project is a volunteer-run organization that offers free one-on-one virtual tutoring to minority and low-income K-12 students. Their mission is to support students’ academic success and facilitate pathways for college and career readiness through personalized tutoring and mentorship. They believe that by tapping into the power of tutors, building strong partnerships with schools, and embracing technology, they’re creating an engaging and supportive learning experience for students who need it the most. 

100 Million USA

The 100 Million campaign is a youth-led call to action for a world where all young people are free, safe and educated. They support young people in mobilizing to end violence against children, eradicate child labor, and ensure education, breaking the cycles of illiteracy, poverty and violence for good.

Our Piece of the Pie

Our Piece of the Pie, Inc. (OPP®) empowers youth with the key competencies needed to overcome barriers and succeed in education and employment.

The organization serves young people ages 14-24 in Greater Hartford and Eastern CT, who have one or more of the following risk factors: under-credited and overaged, Child Welfare involved, justice involved, low income and unemployed or under-employed.

OPP utilizes a framework and competency to address issues of injustice by establishing within the agency a shared language to examine data, understand underlying conditions and identify root causes of inequities affecting the population served.

826 Boston

826 Boston is a nonprofit writing, tutoring, and publishing organization where students in grades K-12 and beyond can share their stories, amplify their voices, and develop as leaders in school and in life.

Their services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with individualized attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. With this understanding in mind, they provide after-school tutoring, field trips, creative writing workshops, in-school Writers’ Rooms, college essay assistance, help for English Language Learners, and in-depth publishing projects.

Each of their free programs seeks to empower students to express their ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their individual voices.

Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation

Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation envisions a world where every child is free, safe, healthy and educated. Their mission is to protect child rights through holistically tackling violence against children to ensure their safety, rehabilitation, education and health. They want to move forward with promulgation and implementation of Global and National Policies by addressing data and evidence gaps in child protection, education, health and nutrition through extensive research, public engagement and outreach.

Distressed Children & Infants International

DCI is working towards a future where all children have a chance at a dignified and successful life. They believe education is the key to ending poverty cycle, stopping child labor and early marriage. They provide education, healthcare, and skill development opportunities to youth and their families in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Nicaragua so they can thrive and lift up themselves, their families and communities. DCI also seeks to connect privileged children to less fortunate disadvantaged children in the United States as well as in other countries around the world, educating them about the challenges they are facing. Thus developing their empathy and responsibilities and inspiring them to take leadership in humanitarian causes; in this way we hope to nurture responsible and compassionate world citizens and future leaders.

The Children’s Law Center of Connecticut

The mission of The Children’s LAW Center is to promote the best possible outcomes for children and families in transition or crisis by providing access to legal services and support they could not otherwise afford and by advancing collaborative, non-adversarial options for resolving conflicts outside the court system.

Massachusetts Advocates for Children

Massachusetts Advocates for Children’s mission is to remove barriers to educational and life opportunities for children and youth. They do so by advocating for and partnering with students and families; transforming school cultures to be inclusive, safe and supportive; and creating systemic change so all children and youth can learn, reach their potential, and thrive. They focus our advocacy on children and youth who face significant barriers, inequities, and/or discrimination because of their economic status, disability, race, ethnicity/culture, immigration status, English Learner status, and/or traumatic life experiences.

Media Voices for Children

Media Voices for Children is an internet news agency for children’s rights. They raise public awareness about the impact of poverty and globalization on the world’s children. They produce and distribute video, interactive media and documentary films.
